Jefferson Bank, a San Antonio lender to home buyers, makes far bigger loans than banks like it, and in 2025 it grew again after four years of falling volume.
Its typical loan was $285,000, against $175,000 at similar lenders (state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans), larger than at about four in five of them. Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 12.6% of its lending, against 1.5%, more than at nearly all. Purchases made up 71.6%.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 46.5% of its loans, against 6.7% at similar lenders, more than at more than nine in ten. Low- and moderate-income borrowers took 18.2%, lower than at most similar lenders; its larger loans and its focus on purchases are possible reasons.

Its loans rose 15% to 447 in 2025, after falling every year from 906 in 2020. In San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX, it ranked 23 of 669 lenders, with 1.0% of lending, up 0.2 points.
