Ives Bank, the former Savings Bank of Danbury, made fewer but much bigger loans in 2025: its loan count fell 24% while the dollars it lent rose to $130.5 million.
It made 171 loans, down from 225, while similar lenders (savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 5% and the whole market 10%. Yet its dollar total rose from $110.6 million, higher than at more than nine in ten similar lenders.
Jumbo loans (larger than the conforming limit) were 19.9% of its loans, up from 6.4%, against 2.5% at similar lenders. Its typical loan was $465,000, about double peers' $232,500. Purchases made up 81.3% of its lending.
It ranks 20 of 419 lenders in Bridgeport-Stamford-Danbury, where JPMorgan Chase Bank leads. Its share slipped to 1.0% from 1.1%; its smaller loan count is one possible reason. It turned down 6.2% of first-lien home-purchase applications on owner-occupied homes, a little below similar lenders' 7.4%.
Majority-minority areas took 26.3% of its loans, against 5.3% at peers, more than at nine in ten of them. Low- and moderate-income (LMI) areas took 23.4%, against 16.6%. Its share of loans to LMI borrowers, 24.7%, was near the middle.
