Hughes Federal Credit Union, an Arizona credit union centered on Tucson, reports no home purchase or refinance loans at all: everything it lends is for home improvement or other purposes.
Other purposes made up 56.5% of its loans and home improvement 43.5%. Its typical loan, $65,000, was smaller than at nearly all similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), whose typical loan was $105,000.
