Hopewell Federal Credit Union, a small Ohio credit union, more than doubled its lending in 2025, mostly small loans for home improvement and other purposes.
It made 122 loans, up 110% from 58, while similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 8%. Nearly all of them grew more slowly. The total is close to the 134 it made in 2020, so 2025 looks like a return to its earlier level rather than a new one.
