Our analysis, 2025
First Service Bank makes fewer but bigger loans than it once did, and is edging up in Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, its largest market.
In Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway it ranked 22 of 423 lenders. Its share rose to 1.1% from 1.0%. It has lent there since 2000, and Arvest Bank and First Security Bank lead the market.
Similar lenders are state non-member banks making between half and twice as many loans. First Service Bank lent $69.0 million, more than about three-quarters of them; the typical one lent $43.7 million. Its typical loan was $195,000, against $175,000 at its peers. Purchases made up 69.1% of its lending.
It made 194 loans in 2025, up 5%. Similar lenders and the whole market grew by 10%. In 2020 it made 282. Its dollar volume rose faster than its loan count, to $69.0 million from $58.3 million, so larger loans may explain more of its growth than new borrowers.
Borrowers with low and moderate incomes (LMI) took 16.2% of its loans, against 27.9% at similar lenders, lower than nearly nine in ten of them. Yet its share in poorer neighborhoods, 19.1%, was close to peers' 17.6%, and majority-minority neighborhoods took 13.9%. Its larger loans, and incomes in the Arkansas markets it serves, could account for the lower borrower share.
