Dime Bank, a Connecticut savings bank, made 45% more loans in 2025 than in 2024, growing faster than about nine in ten similar lenders and gaining share at home.
It made 209 loans. Similar lenders, savings institutions making between half and twice as many loans, grew 8%. Its dollar total rose to $118.3 million from $62.5 million, higher than at nearly nine in ten of them. Its count is still below the 352 of 2020.
In Norwich-New London-Willimantic, where it has lent since 1992, it ranked 11 of 312 lenders with 2.4% of the market, up 0.3 points. Liberty Bank ranked first. In Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford it ranked 59 of 464, with 0.4%.
Home purchases made up 47.4% of its loans, refinances 24.4% and home improvement 10.5%. The rest went to other purposes. Its typical loan, $285,000, was larger than similar lenders' $235,000.
Majority-minority neighborhoods took 12.9% of its loans, against 4.3% at similar lenders and 3.4% for the bank itself in 2020. Low- and moderate-income (LMI) neighborhoods took 20.1%, against 15.8%. LMI borrowers took 24.1%, about the same as at its peers.
