CO-OP Credit Union, in Wisconsin, is growing again: its loans rose 13% in 2025, about double the pace of similar credit unions.
It made 387 loans, against 342 in 2024 and 694 in 2020. Similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans) grew 6%, the whole market 10%. Dollar volume rose faster, from $51.1 million to $70.6 million. Refinances were 40.6% of its loans and purchases 38.8%.
Borrowers with low or moderate incomes (LMI) took 39.3% of its loans, against 27.3% at similar lenders, more than nearly nine in ten of them. Yet LMI neighborhoods took only 2.9%, among the lowest of the group, against 15.4%. The two can sit together where a lender serves rural counties with few neighborhoods classed as LMI; county detail would show whether that is so here.
Manufactured homes were 7.0% of its loans, higher than more than nine in ten similar lenders. It turned down few applicants: 0.8% of purchase applications, against 6.7% at peers, and 6.1% of refinances, against 20.6%.
In La Crosse-Onalaska, MN-WI it ranks 30 of 213, and its share rose to 0.8% from 0.7%. In Eau Claire, WI it ranks 33 of 220, with 0.7%, up from 0.5%. Altra Federal Credit Union and Royal Credit Union lead those markets. Its largest market is non-metro Wisconsin, where it ranks 35 of 659.
