Chambers Bank, of Danville, Arkansas, gives a bigger share of its lending to veterans than any bank like it, and most of its lending finances home purchases.
Loans guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) were 16.2% of its lending, higher than at any similar lender (state member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Borrowers with low or moderate incomes (LMI) took 24.6% of its loans, against 28.1% at similar lenders. One possible reason is its focus on purchases, which made up 73.7% of its loans.
