Credit Union 1 is an Illinois credit union of small refinance loans, with far more of its lending in majority-minority areas than most similar lenders.
Refinances were 89.4% of its loans and home purchases 9.5%. Its typical loan was $75,000, against $105,000 at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), among the lowest tenth, and down from $195,000 five years before.
Loans in majority-minority areas were 39.9% of its total, against 10.5% at peers, higher than more than four in five. Loans in LMI (low- and moderate-income) areas were 22.8%, higher than about nine in ten peers, and LMI borrowers took 31.3%, up from 25.6% the year before.

Its share rose 0.3 points to 0.3% in St. Cloud, where it ranked 63 of 243 lenders. In Chicago-Naperville-Elgin, its largest market, it ranked 214 of 902. It merged with several credit unions in 2025, and their filings count in these competition figures, which may account for some of the change.
