Community 1st Credit Union is an Iowa credit union making small, mostly refinance loans, with a larger share going to LMI (low- and moderate-income) borrowers than at nearly all similar lenders.
Refinances were 71.8% of its originations and home purchases 27.9%. Its typical loan was $65,000, against $105,000 at similar lenders (credit unions making between half and twice as many loans), smaller than nearly all of them, and none was jumbo (larger than the conforming limit).
