Great Plains National Bank is an Oklahoma home-purchase lender with far more government-backed loans than similar banks, and it grew 26% in 2025 while gaining share in Oklahoma City.
FHA (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) loans were 28.9% of its lending, against 2.1% at similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans), higher than nearly all of them. VA (guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs) loans were 11.5% and RHS (guaranteed by the Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service) 2.3%, against 0.8% and 0.1%. Home purchases made up 84.3% of its loans.
Its higher-priced share (a rate well above the average for similar loans) was 7.4%, against 1.2% at peers. FHA loans carry mortgage-insurance costs that can push them over the higher-priced line; with FHA nearly three in ten of its loans, and manufactured homes 2.6% of them against 1.2% at peers, these could account for most of the difference. Its typical rate, 6.62%, was close to peers' 6.50%, and its home-purchase denial rate, 2.6%, was lower than peers' 5.6%.
Originations rose 26% to 1,670, while similar lenders grew 10% and the whole market 10%; its growth was higher than about seven in ten of them.
In Oklahoma City it ranked 5 of 534 lenders, its share rising 0.7 points to 3.1%; First United Bank and Trust Company ranked first. In Tulsa its share rose 0.1 points to 0.4%.
