Champions Funding is a fast-growing national lender of conventional loans only: its originations rose 261% to 11,067 in 2025, against 18% for similar lenders.
Originations rose from 3,067 to 11,067, the fastest growth among similar lenders (non-bank lenders making between a quarter and four times as many loans), whose middle growth was 18%; the whole market grew 10%. It bought only 259 loans, so the growth came from its own lending. It first reported in 2022, with 863 loans, and now lends in 49 states, with Florida its largest.
Every loan was conventional, against 58.7% at similar lenders, with no FHA (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) or VA (guaranteed by the Department of Veterans Affairs) loans. Refinances were 51.4% of its loans, and 5.8% were jumbo (larger than the conforming limit), against 1.0% at peers.
34.2% of its loans were in LMI (low- and moderate-income) areas, the highest share among similar lenders, and 49.4% in majority-minority areas, against 32.8%. Yet 9.9% went to LMI borrowers, against 25.9%, down from 34.9% in 2024. Its borrowers in those areas may have had incomes above the LMI line, and with no FHA lending it may reach fewer of the buyers who use those loans.
Its share of Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands rose from 0.1% to 0.4%, ranking it 66 of 929 lenders. Its highest ranks among its largest markets were 22 of 937 in Miami and 34 of 802 in New York.
