Nicolet National Bank ranks 4 of 659 lenders in non-metro Wisconsin and third in Green Bay, Appleton and Oshkosh-Neenah, making only conventional loans.
Its share fell to 6.8% from 8.4% in Green Bay, to 4.8% from 5.1% in Appleton and to 4.7% from 5.5% in Oshkosh-Neenah; Community First Credit Union leads all three. One possibility is that more of its lending went to rural markets, where it ranks 4 of 659 in non-metro Wisconsin and 18 of 606 in non-metro Michigan.
Originations rose 4% to 2,762, slower than about two in three similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans), whose typical growth was 15%, and below the whole market's 10%. Volume is about half the 5,334 of 2020 but above the 2,444 of 2023.
All its loans were conventional, with no FHA or VA lending, and home purchase made up 54.7%. It turned down 1.9% of first-lien home-purchase applications and 10.1% of refinance applications, against 6.9% and 20.3% for similar lenders.
Low- and moderate-income (LMI) borrowers took 21.8% of its loans against 27.2%, and LMI tracts 8.8% against 14.5%. Majority-minority tracts took 0.9% against 9.6%. Its rural Wisconsin and Michigan markets, where such tracts may be few, could account for much of this.
