A fall while peers grew
Similar lenders are credit unions making between half and twice as many loans. Bellco's fall was the largest among them, while the whole market grew 10%, and its loan dollars fell to $477.6 million from $706.9 million. With almost no purchase lending, its volume rests on owners borrowing against their homes, which could explain a swing of this size.
