The Huntington National Bank is first in both Columbus and Cleveland, and 35.3% of its borrowers were LMI (low- and moderate-income), up from 26.1% in 2020.
Its Columbus share rose from 6.6% to 6.8% and its Cleveland share eased from 8.7% to 8.5%, first in both. In Cincinnati it ranks fourth, its share down from 4.6% to 4.0%; strong local competitors could account for that.
Originations fell 2% in 2025, while similar lenders (national banks making between a quarter and four times as many loans) rose 12% and the whole market 10%; its change was lower than more than four in five of them. Its count is down from 89,296 in 2021, though lending by value rose from $10.37 billion to $11.62 billion.
Home improvement is 23.9% of its lending, and its typical loan of $135,000 is lower than more than four in five similar lenders, against $205,000; its home improvement lending may explain the smaller size. FHA loans (insured by the Federal Housing Administration) are 3.9%, higher than about nine in ten.
Loans in LMI areas rose from 12.1% in 2020 to 17.4%, higher than about three in four similar lenders, and in majority-minority areas from 5.7% to 10.9%. That majority-minority share is still lower than more than nine in ten similar lenders, against 21.5%, which may reflect the neighbourhoods its main markets hold.
