LMI areas at the core of its lending
Its share of loans in LMI (low- and moderate-income) areas rose from 28.6% five years before to 43.6%, higher than about nineteen in twenty similar lenders (state member banks making between half and twice as many loans). Only 19.2% went to LMI borrowers, against 23.2%, lower than about two-thirds. Lending in non-metro Montana tracts classed as LMI, to borrowers whose own incomes are higher, could produce both. None of its loans were in majority-minority areas, against 7.7%, which may reflect the makeup of its Montana markets.
