Broadway National Bank made fewer loans, for less money, in 2025 while similar lenders grew, and it stands out for jumbo lending far above its peers.
Originations fell 10% to 337, while similar lenders (national banks making between half and twice as many loans) rose 5% and the whole market 10%; its change was lower than more than four in five of them. Dollars fell further, to $191.5 million. Its share of San Antonio-New Braunfels, served since before 1990, slipped from 0.7% to 0.5% (53 of 669).
18.6% of its loans were jumbo (larger than the conforming limit), against 2.1% for similar lenders, higher than almost all of them. Its typical loan, $255,000, was higher than about two-thirds of similar lenders' ($200,000).
It turned down 5.5% of first-lien home-purchase applications on owner-occupied homes, near the middle of similar lenders (6.0%).
38.9% of its loans were in majority-minority tracts, against 7.0% for similar lenders, which may reflect its concentration in San Antonio. Its share to LMI (low- and moderate-income) borrowers, 18.9%, was lower than the group's 26.0% but up from 11.2% five years earlier; its larger loans could be one reason.
